Having moved down the coast just south of Ajaccio we stopped over at Porticcio. We planned to visit Iles Sanguinaires and take a direct route across the Bay of Ajaccio, a distance of some 10 miles, which meant a good paddle in the morning and a rest during the hot period of the afternoon.
The waters are crystal clear and plenty of fish to see, take a snorkel and fins and enjoy the 24° water.
A short track leads up to the 2 lighthouses offering a magnificent view of the main land.
We took the short route back to the main land and spent the evening walking locally before sleeping on a very small beach. It’s great not having to think about tidal heights.
We returned to Porticcio the following day and started our journey further south to the region around Bonifacio.
